Seth Gillis, 44, of Richmond, died Dec. 22, 2014. He had been an environmental police officer with the DEM since 2003 and died after acquiring an infection from surgery for an on-duty injury. Officer Gillis previously worked for the Jamestown Police Department, from 1999-2003. Officer Gillis graduated from North Kingstown High School in 1988. He went on to earn degrees in criminal law and environmental science from the University of Rhode Island. Gillis was raised in Jamestown by his parents, Thomas and Linda Gillis. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Ouellette) Gillis, and three children. Gillis was an avid hunter and trap shooter and very involved in recreation sports. He was the voice and DJ for the Chariho Cowboys Football Organization.
